
Hyppolite Pierre
Hyppolite Pierre, Haiti Country Specialist for Amnesty International, is Executive Director and Founder of the Institute for Research in Socioeconomic and Public Policy (IRSP). IRSP is a Haitian research institute incorporated in Maryland and a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Pierre is also a published author and Haiti-American consultant with the Pierre Consultancy Group.

Kathie Klarreich
Kathie Klarreich has been a journalist for nearly 20 years, half of which were spent in Haiti. She has reported for, among others, The New York Times, Time Magazine, the Christian Science Monitor, NPR, NBC, ABC and CNN. Her memoir, Madame Dread: A Tale of Love, Vodou and Civil Strife in Haiti, was released by Nation Books in 2005.

Obed Rémy
Obed Rémy is the founder and Director of Haiti Impact Magazine, an online Haitian magazine. The focus of this Haitian magazine is analytical review of current events and crucial issues that occur in, or affect, Haiti.
Obed’s journalistic career began in the early 1990’s in Haiti. He first worked as special correspondent for Magik Stereo Radio. By 1993, his journalistic talent and focus paid off when he became News Director for Radio Tropicale in Haiti. This was a difficult period for independent journalists, as Haiti was dealing with the aftermath of the first, 1991 coup d’état against Aristide. He pressed on and earned the respect and admiration of Haiti’s radio listening audience.
Obed RemyBetween 1996 and 1997, Obed Remy shared his professionalism and talent with students of journalism as Instructor of Professional Deontology at the Centre Haïtien de Formation des Journalistes, a journalism school founded by famed Haitian reporter Ady Jean Gardy.
Obed is author of “L’État Exterminateur”, a book in French that dissects the causes and consequences of the September 1991 coup d’état in Haiti.

Nicolas Rossier
Nic Rossier is an American filmmaker and journalist whose productions have appeared on many televisions and in various venues around the world. His works have been reviewed in the New York Times, NPR, Los Angeles Times among many others. Some of his latest films include the award winning documentaries “American Radical” about disgraced American scholar Norman Finkelstein, and “Aristide and the Endless Revolution”, which investigates the events leading to the 2004 overthrow of Haiti’s controversial president Jean-Bertrand Aristide. Rossier was born and raised in Geneva, Switzerland, and moved to New York in 1997 where he became an American citizen and currently resides. After studying political science and economics at the Graduate Institute of international and development studies in Geneva, he spent a few years in the corporate world before moving to New York to study film and theater. He is currently working on various documentaries, television series and fictions. Rossier travels often to Latin America and the Caribbean, including Haiti where he has developed many ties over the years.

Gertrude Joseph
Gertrude Joseph holds a Ph. D. in Education, and is Adjunct Math Professor at Palm Beach Community College in Palm Beach, Florida. She also teaches Math credit recovery for a Palm Beach County Alternative School to students who have problems coping with the traditional High School settings. She is also a mentor, and teaches new educators to pass the Math General Knowledge exam for their initial state certification.
Gertrude also has a graduate certificate in Risk Management from Mississippi State University, and a National Board Certification for Professional Teaching Standards in ESOL and Math.
Gertrude’s doctoral research study, with trained scholars in Education at Lynn University in Florida, is on “The Impact of Politics on Education in Haiti 1988-2008.”
