Preval speaking to the population behind a fence
In a January 31, 2010 article published by the New York Times, Haiti’s paralyzed government of President Preval is exposed in no uncertain terms. What everyone thought at first was President Preval’s leadership style (lack of communication with the general population) is instead explained as a fundamental weakness that comes from institutional mayhem.
Mirlande Manigat, wife of former Haitian president Leslie F. Manigat and probable presidential candidate herself, is quoted as saying that current president Preval is “not doing”, “not speaking”, “not acting”. It’s a very interesting article, which you can read by clicking on this link.
