Bill Clinton
According to the Washington Post and various other media outlets, former US President Bill Clinton is scheduled to coordinate Haiti aid efforts. The Former president already plays the role of UN Representative in Haiti. His Clinton Foundation is heavily involved in development work there as well.
With people getting more and more frustrated by the slowness of government and their lack of visibility, the international community is increasingly taking over control of the entire relief effort. Government, since day one, was simply invisible while blaming nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) for having greater control of the process. Meanwhile, the work of coordination was not even being performed by government.
